In den city's link vrains, thousands participate in duel monsters games. users create unique avatars and battle each other. however, a mysterious group called knights of hanoi threatens this virtual reality world. a high school student named yusaku fujiki fights as playmaker to protect it. one day, he meets an ai program named ai that causes a digital storm known as the data storm. this leads to speed duels where duelists surf the wind while battling. yusaku battles against knights of hanoi to uncover a truth about an incident from his past.
