In the story of "Sankarea," we follow the journey of Chihiro Furuya, a young man who has always been fascinated by zombies. When his cat is run over, he attempts to bring it back to life using a resurrection potion. During this process, he encounters Rea Sanka, a wealthy girl who is unhappy with her life. Despite their initial differences, Chihiro and Rea bond and work together to save Baabu. However, things take an unexpected turn when Rea drinks the resurrection potion, thinking it will kill her but instead causing her to be reborn as a zombie. As she adjusts to her new life, Chihiro must navigate the challenges that come with having a undead girlfriend. This situation may seem like a dream come true for someone who wants a zombie partner, but in reality, it brings its own set of complications and obstacles.
The initial English DVD and Blu-Ray releases were edited for content, but customers were allowed to exchange it for an uncensored version later on.
