In monogatari series: second season, koyomi araragi and his close friends continue to encounter supernatural occurrences. tsubasa hanekawa is a genius in the group, while shinobu oshino loves doughnuts and is a vampire. suruga kanbaru is an athletic deviant, mayoi hachikuji is a bite-happy spirit, nadeko sengoku is koyomi's cutesy stalker, hitagi senjogahara is a poignant tsundere. the series follows their struggles as they try to overcome the darkness that threatens them. a new semester has started and araragi must decide on his paths in life and relationships. however, strange events begin to unfold, and araragi disappears, leaving behind a vicious tiger apparition. hanekawa becomes its target and must fight for herself or accept the creature's view of humanity's weakness.

The series is composed of 23 episodes adapted from the novels and 3 summary episodes. 5 of the 6 novels of the Monogatari Series: Second Season light novel series were adapted, while the 3rd novel, Hanamonogatari, was aired separately in August 2014.
