Spirits are supernatural beings that possess immense power and can cause spatial disturbances when they manifest. One way of dealing with them is through forceful means or by making them fall in love and neutralizing their abilities. Shidou Itsuka, having successfully sealed three spirits, continues his quest to find more and date them for the safety of the world. However, this time, they may face a greater threat that will not only target spirits but also pose a danger to their mission.

Date A Live II adapts novels 5-7 of Koushi Tachibanas light novel series of the same name. Like with the first season, the Japanese home video releases have a Directors Cut with many new scenes. However, the English dub by FUNimation Entertainment does not feature these new scenes as they didnt have them in their home video releases.
