On one occasion, an enormous UFO rotates above Japan and collides into a rural farmland near Nagaoka, disrupting Tsubasa Misudachis daily routine. As the Gatchaman, the legendary protectors of Tachikawa City, monitor the incident, a tranquil extraterrestrial creature emerges from the spacecraft. In the ensuing pandemonium, Tsubasa is bestowed with a cutting-edge high-tech notebook, known as NOTE, by Gatchaman founder J.J. Robinson, indicating Tsubasas sudden enlistment into their ranks. Under the guidance of fellow hero Hajime Ichinose, Tsubasa gradually acclimates to his new role as a champion of justice. Meanwhile, the CROWDS technology, which allows users to materialize their consciousness into a physical form, is gaining widespread acceptance among the populace, with Prime Minister Sugayama endorsing it. However, a shadowy organization called VAPE has garnered notoriety by employing distinctive red CROWDS to wreak havoc, causing public sentiment against the technology to shift negatively. The Gatchaman, along with new recruit Tsubasa, must act swiftly to put an end to VAPEs destructive activities before it's too late.
