Tenchi Masakis life takes an unexpected turn when Ryouko Hakubis ship is shot down near his familys temple. By saving her, Tenchi unknowingly sets off a chain reaction that leads various alien women from different backgrounds to move into his home. Among them are Princess Aeka and Sasami of Jurai, the scatterbrained detective Mihoshi Kuramitsu with her partner Kiyone Makibi, and Washuu Hakubis eccentric mad scientist daughter. Despite their differences in culture and lifestyle, they all try to adapt to life on Earth. However, their advanced technology often clashes with the simpler customs of the planet, causing chaos and trouble for Tenchi. Although the girls are a handful, Tenchi forms close bonds with each of them, which helps him understand his role in the universe better.
