In a remote corner of the cosmos, an intergalactic criminal named Kain escapes from prison and wreaks havoc on the Galaxy Police Headquarters. Satisfied by the chaos he has caused, Kain sets his sights on a greater prize that awaits him on Earth. Meanwhile, Tenchi Masaki and his crew are watching old family videos of their mother, Achika. As they watch, Achika gradually fades away, and so does Tenchi. However, thanks to Washuu Hakubi's invention, Tenchi is not lost forever. The group soon realizes that Kain must have tampered with time in some way, leading them to believe that he was responsible for Achika's disappearance. In order to save himself and preserve the future, Tenchi travels back in time with the girls to prevent his mother from meeting her tragic fate.
