Hanae Ashiyas high school career has not been easy-he's spent all of the first week in the infirmary due to an unexplained condition that's worsening. The cause is a mysterious fuzzy creature attached to him since he found it before school started. As his health declines and the creature grows, Hanae finds a flyer for an exorcist who expels youkai. Desperate and with nothing left to lose, he calls the number and meets Haruitsuki Abeno at the Mononokean tea room. Though reluctant, Abeno helps Hanae but demands payment afterward. Since Hanae cannot afford it, he must work as an employee at the Mononokean to pay off his debt. To make things worse, his boss is one of his classmates. In order to settle his debt, Hanae must work with Abeno to guide various dangerous, strange, and interesting youkai back to the Underworld.
