Following the occurrences in Macross 7's TV series, Basara departed from Fire Bomber and journeyed to Zola. Upon his arrival, he encountered a young lady named Elma who was an ardent admirer of Fire Bomber. On this very planet, Basara would again need to harness his Spiritia abilities; this time, to safeguard a cluster of space whales from being slaughtered by an army of poachers, as well as preventing Elma's father Graham from executing the same heinous act.
