Koyasu is a well-known seiyū in Japan with voice acting roles in over 365 anime series as of December 2008, making him the most prolific seiyū in the country. He is also part of the Weiss quartet consisting of Shinichiro Miki, Tomokazu Seki, and Yuuki Hiro, who are voice castmates from Weiss Kreuz. Koyasu founded Ts Factory, a seiyuu company he heads today.
Koyasu is known for his deep, smooth voice that often lands him in roles as villains or lonely bishōnen. However, recently he has been voicing more lively and humorous characters, such as Mitsurugi Hanagata from Saber Marionette J, Ryo Kuroyanagi from Yakitate!! Japan, Bobobo-Bo-Bobobo, and Kei Itoshiki from Zoku Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei. According to Hisaya Nakajo, the mangaka of Hana-Kimi, Masao Himejima was designed with Koyasu's voice in mind, and he ended up voicing this character in the series drama CDs.
In addition to his seiyū work, Koyasu is also the creator of the Weiß series and has authored the manga Weiß Side B. He was inspired by an old Japanese series called Sure Death while creating Weiß Kreuz. When not working as a seiyū or creating content, Koyasu enjoys snowboarding video games, designing signatures, writing baseball, driving E Rank cars, jumping rope, and taking photographs.
