Lina Inverse is a sorceress who travels around the globe stealing treasures from bandits she encounters on her journey. Her latest victims are a group of thieves waiting in ambush for revenge. When Lina prepares to easily defeat them, Gourry Gabriev suddenly appears and assumes that Lina needs rescuing. Despite not being interested in this idea, Lina accepts his offer to escort her to Atlas City. However, she accidentally discovers a powerful magical item among her recent loot. Two mysterious men are now hunting the young magician and Gourry Gabriev to obtain this object for unknown evil purposes. This marks the beginning of their adventure, which may determine the fate of the world itself.
