Makoto Shiranui has always been fascinated by Mamoru Hoshisato, a renowned magician and his wife Maeve's friend. After watching their magic show, he decided to move to Tokyo to become Hoshisato's apprentice. Kana, also known as Hatena, is the couple's daughter and Makoto's childhood companion. As Makoto adjusts to life in Tokyo, including dealing with a burglary by a beautiful thief, he finds comfort from Hatena. When Makoto visits Hoshisato's now-haunted mansion, he reunites with his family, including Jeeves and Emma, the butler and maid, as well as Hatena. However, to his surprise, he discovers that their relationship is no longer compatible.
