Hana Ichinose is a 17-year-old high school student who recently moved to a new school and feels introverted, insecure, and timid. She worries about attending classes where everyone else is younger than her due to being a "slow start," meaning she missed a year of school. On her first day at the new school, Hana's teacher reveals it is her birthday, giving her an opportunity to meet three classmates: Tamate Momochi, who is outgoing and confident; Kanmumi Sengoku, who is shy and small; and popular and pretty Eiko Tokura. Through these interactions with them, Hana begins to form meaningful relationships that will positively impact her life at the new school.
