The "Labyrinth" is an extensive underground space where humans reside in clusters called "colonies." Over time, the surface has become unattainable for many-perhaps even a mere fantasy to those who have never experienced its beauty. To ensure survival in this harsh environment, colony inhabitants can take on specialized jobs such as "Workers," who mine valuable resources, and "Markers," who venture into the Labyrinth's lush surroundings to gather information that simplifies navigation. However, humanity faces a grave threat from colossal creatures known as "kaijuu," which range in size from small children to massive structures. These behemoths are hostile towards humans and can force their way into colonies, amplifying their danger.
A nine-year-old college graduate named Memenpu has been captivated by the idea of exploring the vast expanse of the Labyrinth in search of a place with an endless ceiling not restricted by rock. Despite her father Gagumbers opposition, a recent encounter with a kaijuu sparks a perilous yet exhilarating adventure that may forever alter the trajectory of humanity.
