The outbreak of the Patrian civil war led to the development of half-human, half-beast soldiers known as "Incarnates." These powerful beings were created by the Northerners in an attempt to counterbalance the overwhelming Southern forces. Despite their godlike abilities, the Incarnates faced a challenge with the beasts inside them that they could not resolve through conventional means. After the war ended, stories of the Incarnates' misfortunes emerged, and Hank Henriette, a former captain of the Incarnates who witnessed the horrors of war firsthand, became a Beast Hunter-those tasked with eliminating rogue Incarnates. Nancy Schaal Bancroft, whose father was an Incarnate soldier who met his end at the hands of a Beast Hunter, resolved to avenge her family's loss by hunting down the man responsible. However, after encountering the Beast Hunter and learning more about the Incarnates' struggles, Nancy decided to seek the root cause of their problems and work towards finding a solution for them in society.
