Genjou Sanzou is a Buddhist monk tasked by the Emperor with finding sacred scriptures. On his journey, he meets an Earth Deity who informs him that Buddha has sent him a disciple - Monkey Deity Son Goku, sealed away in a mountain for five centuries due to misbehavior. Along with Cho Hakkai, Sagojyou, and Ryuuba, the group embarks on exciting adventures, from battling monsters to participating in bishounen contests.
