In the year since Guts left the Band of the Hawk on his quest to create his own destiny, their numbers have dwindled. Unaware of their situation, Guts returns to the group after hearing a rumor about them. Once known as the saviors of Midland, the Band of the Hawk now face persecution as they fight for survival while planning to free their imprisoned leader, Griffith, who was convicted of treason. However, the man they save is not the charismatic Griffith they once knew. After a year of grueling torture, Griffith can no longer walk, speak or wield a sword. The entire group desires to regain their former glory but are willing to make great sacrifices to achieve it. But when Griffith's heart turns dark and a solar eclipse occurs, the Crimson Behelit offers them a choice that will lead to a blood-soaked fate that will haunt them for eternity.
