In the summer of 1945, three years had passed since the war between Japan and the United States began. Gen was a young boy living in the city of Hiroshima, which had been spared from bombing compared to other Japanese cities. Despite this, food was scarce, and his family, including his pregnant mother, were suffering from severe malnutrition. To make ends meet, Gen and his brother Shinji helped their parents with work while also trying to ensure the survival of their family. Little did they know that the Americans had plans in store for Hiroshima, which would drastically change their lives on August 6th, 1945.
