Boku Wa Ou-sama is a television series that was created based on a book series written by Teruo Teramura and Shizuko Wakayama. The first volume in this popular children's book series was published in 1959, with a total of 49 volumes being released over time. This makes it one of the most well-known and beloved children's books in Japan. The books and anime follow the adventures of Ou-sama, who is depicted as a silly, gluttonous, lazy but overall very lovable and cute king. Throughout his journey, he seeks out elephant eggs (which are known for making the biggest omelets, his favorite dish!) hides toys in the forest to play pranks on his three wise counselors, or rides around the castle on a bike.
