The conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons has been ongoing for many centuries on Cybertron. Led by Optimus Prime, the Autobots were attempting to escape from the war when they encountered a sudden attack from Megatron and his Decepticon forces. This led to a fierce battle aboard their ship, which eventually resulted in its crash onto a volcano. Four million years later, an earthquake revived the computer systems on both ships, bringing back the Autobots and Decepticons, and resuming the war between them.
