In the Thunderbolt Sector, which was previously known as Side 4 "Moore," a fierce conflict takes place between Federation troops and Zeon forces. The sector is characterized by debris from destroyed space colonies and electrical discharges emanating from metal fragments. Io Flemming, an MS pilot, is one of the Federation soldiers deployed to this area where Daryl Lorenz, a skilled Zeon sniper, awaits them on the battlefield.
Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky was the first anime to ever be released on 4K UHD (Ultra High Definition) Blu-ray. The 4K UHD Blu-ray was released by Bandai Visual in Japan on December 22, 2016.
