Ryu's girlfriend assists him in running his shop. In the Ninja Gaiden games, she was portrayed as a CIA agent. However, based on her behavior in the OAV, it appears that the authors have altered her character. Irene is a gentle and emotional individual who can handle dangerous situations but generally prefers not to engage in combat. She deeply loves Ryu.
