Miki is an exceptional seventh-grade student who forms a bond with utena despite their potential roles as opponents in duels. a talented pianist, he recalls fond memories of playing music with his twin sister kozue during childhood. however, her refusal to play with him now symbolizes a deeper rift, causing miki feelings of loss. his infatuation for anthy in the anime and utena in the manga stems from their resemblance to his estranged sister. driven by this desire, he seeks duels as a means to replace kozue's absence in his affections. despite being admired by many females at school, including older ones, kozue jealously guards miki and attempts to make him jealous by dating multiple boys. as the council secretary of the student council and an active member of the fencing club, miki often carries a stopwatch with him.
