In high school, Nene was an exceptional writer who went by the nickname "sensei." She first appeared in the Read or Die manga alongside her teenage friend Yomiko. Despite being frustrated with Yomikos love for books and later the Paper Sisters when they moved into her home, Nene often teased Yomiko about forgetting important details and leaving post-its around. Since Yomiko disappeared, Nene has become more independent but also feels wistful at times. Despite her parents' wishes, she stayed in Japan to take care of Yomikos personal belongings and keep watch for any sign of her return.
