Pheles, a lord, was deeply in love with Johan, a human. In order to be together forever, they created the most valuable treasure in Guze, known as the Treasure that Grants Eternity to the Mystes Bearing the Reiji Maigo. This treasure allowed Pheles to survive without consuming other humans' power of existence, as she was able to obtain enough from Johan without putting him at risk of disappearing. However, during a fight against Sabrac, an assassin from the Bal Masques, Johan was severely injured. In order to protect him, Pheles sealed him into the Reiji Maigo, unaware that Sabrac had also placed the Silver into the Hougu simultaneously. As a result, the treasure was lost, and Pheles began searching for it everywhere with an Unrestricted Method known as "The Wheel of Wind" (Kaze no Tenrin), which becomes a duplicate of her own when the target is found. In the light novels, Johan takes control of Yuujis body in order to convince Pheles not to sacrifice the current Mystes in order to bring him back. Pheles eventually agrees to his lover's wish before disappearing into parts unknown. Pheles and Wilhelmina are friends, and she was saved from a trap set by Sabrac at one point. She does not appear in the first season of the anime but makes an appearance in the second season around the end of episode twelve as she continues her search for the Reiji Maigo.
