Zoll of Tokarga, トカーガの戦士ゾル

In both Space Pirate Captain Harlock series and My Youth in Arcadia, Zoll has two contrasting appearances despite having similar storylines. In Space Pirate, he is a survivor of the Mazone invasion on his homeworld Tokarga, where his people are assimilated into their caravan that's heading to Earth. The remaining military forces have been pressed into service to attack Arcadia. Zoll feels ashamed by Harlock's show of respect and escapes to confront the Mazones in a futile assault, lamenting about how his sons will remember him as an enemy pawn. He takes with him a memory device containing vital information on the Mazone fleet. In My Youth in Arcadia, Zoll is now human-looking and has survived Illumidas' conquest of Tokarga. His military forces are tasked with attacking Harlock, whom they successfully drive back to Earth. Unlike Space Pirate, he doesn't have sons but rather a brother and sister. When he learns about his planet's impending destruction by Illumidas, he joins forces with Harlock in an attempt to rescue survivors on Tokarga. After the uprising, Zoll remains on Earth to protect Maya and other resistors. However, he dies during the execution while trying to save Maya and Emeraldas from Prime Minister Triter's bullets.
