In the beginning of the anime, a high-ranking military officer named Daryun is removed from his position. He's given a new mission to safeguard Arslan. Despite their initial differences, Daryun and Arslan develop a strong bond. As a samurai, Daryun is fiercely loyal, and he eventually tells Arslan that regardless of where he comes from, Daryun considers him his prince. Daryun's combat abilities are renowned, earning Rajendra, the Prince of Pars and Shindra, to call him the greatest warrior in both lands.
