In Episode 155 of Sailor Moon, a young boy named Kyūsuke attends elementary school with Chibiusa. He is targeted by the Amazoness Quartet and is known for being very athletic but also sarcastic. During the episode, he struggles with his fear of the vault in an athletic relay competition. JunJun scares him into leaping over the vault, giving Kyūsuke the confidence to continue in the competition after Sailor Moon and Chibi Moon save him from JunJun. In a later episode, Kyūsuke befriends a boy named Hiroki who is trying to build a flying machine. Initially resentful of Hiroki's dream and how impressed Chibiusa is with it, Kyūsuke ends up encouraging Hiroki to continue building the machine after multiple failed attempts. He tells Hiroki that some dreams require help from others and that they are no less beautiful as a result. With Kyūsuke's assistance, Hiroki completes the flying machine when he realizes that he lacked the power and endurance to keep it in the air on his own but with Kyūsuke helping him pedal, it would take flight.
