Haruka's younger sister initially viewed both Takayuki and Mitsuki as older siblings until she discovered that they had been secretly seeing each other. Despite being in the hospital, Haruka visited them every day because there was no one else to keep her company, even though she was in a coma. This demonstrated how much she loved her older sister. Like Mitsuki, Haruka was also an accomplished swimmer but felt inferior to her sister's talent and dreams. Her intense animosity towards Mitsuki after the accident stemmed from feelings of personal betrayal by someone she revered as a role model for abandoning her (Mitsukis) abilities and aspirations, as well as Mitsukis infidelity towards her sister through her romantic relationship with Takayuki. Eventually, Haruka learned to move on in life and became one of the top swimmers in Japan.
