In the 18th century, during the holy war, there was a gold saint named manigoldo who served as the disciple of the previous cancer gold saint, sage. he shared some personality traits with the 20th century cancer gold saint (deathmask), but unlike deathmask, he wasn't evil. initially, manigoldo had a hostile and informal demeanor, often speaking in an almost humorous way. however, after meeting sage, he decided to train at the sanctuary to understand that every person, alive or dead, is part of the universe.
sage taught him various techniques related to souls, including the ability to send souls to the entrance of the underworld with his praesepe underworld waves (sekishiki meikaiha) and create an orb in his hand that ignites nearby souls with the praesepe demonic blue flames (sekishiki kisoen). additionally, manigoldo could use acubens, a physical attack where he used both legs as pincers to cut his opponent in half.
manigoldo's attacks involving souls were particularly effective, and he was capable of using the praesepe soul burial waves (sekishiki konsoha) to stray nearby souls as gunpowder to create a massive explosion.
