Ion Fortuna  

Ion Fortuna is an Imperial messenger and envoy who was born in 3045 AD. He is young compared to Methuselah standards, being the grandson of Mirka Fortuna. Ion takes pride in his race and the Empire. His mission is to negotiate with the Vatican on behalf of the Emperor. When he arrived at the Carthage embassy where Caterina was staying, a fire broke out, causing suspicion that he was involved. He managed to escape from Father Tres' gunfire but was injured by a silver bullet. Abel and Esther helped Ion and Radu flee through underground passages beneath the city.
