In Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal, Tenjou Kaito is a Number Hunter who turns evil after his brother falls sick due to the involvement of Number holders and Astral World. He seeks out The Emperors Key in order to save his brother. On the other hand, in Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, Kaito is an alternative version of Zexal's counterpart who was once a professional duelist in Heartland City before its invasion by Duel Academy. After his family was sealed into cards, he left the Resistance and embarked on a vendetta against Duel Academy, vowing to seal thousands of soldiers into cards and earning a bounty on his head. However, after his duels with Yuuya Sakaki and Shun, Kaito experiences a change of heart and becomes an ally of the Lancers.
