Taku, a student who was struggling financially for his school trip to Hawaii, took on a job as a busboy at a restaurant to cover the expenses. However, this decision led him to neglect his studies and earned disapproval from his teachers. In front of the whole school, he voiced his opposition to canceling the trip. Rikako, one of Taku's classmates, later lent him money for the tickets despite not knowing about her plans. Although Taku had feelings for Rikako, he kept them hidden because Yutaka, another student, was already expressing his love for her. During their visit to Tokyo, Taku fell deeply in love with the city and decided to enroll at Tokyo University after graduating from high school.
