Initially, Ryouta was a bully at school who would push Komori around. However, when Goro and Shimizu stood up against him, he eventually backed down after being hit by Goro for attempting to throw his baseball glove into the river. As time went on, Ryouta realized that he didn't have any real friends. Feeling lonely, he approached Goro and asked if he could play baseball with him, Shimizu, and Komori. Initially, Ryouta played soccer but later switched to baseball so that he could participate in the little league alongside his new friends.
