Dr. Knox  

As a military surgeon, Dr. Knox was one of the physicians assigned to investigate the effects of burns and pain on humans through the use of Ishvalan subjects as test subjects. His expertise in dissecting Flame Alchemist-style bodies made him particularly suited for this task. After the war, he continued practicing pathology and forensics but felt that he had lost his ability to treat living people. Despite returning from battle, Knox struggled with post-traumatic stress disorder, experiencing flashbacks, insomnia, and nightmares related to Ishval. He is a divorced father of an adult son.
