The rescuer in question is Lag's guardian, who makes their first appearance in chapter one. This character serves as a sort of 'letter bee', responsible for locating young Lag Seeing, marked as such in the small town of Coza Bel within the Yodaka District (the lower-class district of Amberground). Their mission is to deliver this letter to Cambel Litus, another town situated on the same district, so that Lag can reunite with his aunt who was entrusted with taking care of him by the person responsible for writing Lag's data. In addition to being a dedicated and enthusiastic letter bee, Gauche also has personal aspirations - he aims to become the 'Head Bee', or captain of the letter bees, in order to amass enough wealth to help his sister and achieve a more comfortable lifestyle.
