Vardemann has built a reputation for proving his clients' innocence, including his own father, who died before being exonerated. He is married with a daughter born during the series. Known for enjoying "Over the Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz. Later on, he discovers notes written by his father that may suggest guilt in Tenma's case. To uncover the truth about an author named Franz Bonaparta and his own father's past, Vardemann teams up with Suk.
