Shiro-chan, 日番谷 冬獅郎

Hitsugaya is from Junrinan, District 1 of Rukongai where he lived with an old woman, Momo Hinamori. It's said that she is his grandmother. Not much else is known about his past except that he became a Shinigami shortly after Hinamori. He is friends with Jidanbou and taught him the "city rules." As a child, Hitsugaya was mischievous and enjoyed eating watermelons and teasing Momo. She called him "Shiro-chan" while he referred to her as "Bed-wetter Momo." Despite being younger and shorter than his friend, Hitsugaya felt the need to protect Momo. His favorite foods are watermelon and sweet nattō. He dislikes hot weather. Due to his natural talent, Hitsugaya quickly entered the Shinigami Institute after Hinamori despite his young age. She continued calling him "Shiro-chan" out of habit until he achieved his Zanpakutō's initial release and was recognized as a Shinigami. At this point, she started addressing him as "Hitsugaya-kun." Highly skilled and knowledgeable, Hitsugaya became the youngest Captain within the Gotei 13.
