Following a sudden and intense assault from Quincy King Yhwach, the Soul Reapers of the Soul Society are left injured and grieving for their fallen comrades. Many of the surviving captains decide to train for battle without their Bankai, which is the most powerful technique used by the strongest warriors in their society. During the previous battle, Ichigo Kurosaki narrowly escaped death at the hands of Yhwach, but in order to defeat his god-like enemy and protect his allies, Ichigo must now undergo rigorous training that will push him beyond his physical, emotional, and mental limits. Although Yhwach currently holds the advantage in this ongoing conflict, he also manages to convince Uryuu Ishida, Ichigo's close friend and rival, to join his cause as his successor. With renewed determination, Yhwach launches another attack on the weakened Soul Society, determined to finally eradicate his longstanding enemies. As Ichigo strives to gain new power, the Soul Reaper captains fight for their survival and buy themselves some time.

Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen - Ketsubetsu-tan was released on Blu-ray and DVD by Aniplex on February 28, 2024. It adapts volumes 61-67 of the original manga.
