A renowned pianist is gaining popularity again. When Chiaki meets Ruis, he becomes attracted to him quickly. This causes jealousy and insecurity in Nodame as well, especially since she feels that her performances do not match up to Chiakis expectations due to Rui's fame. As a result, several attempts for Nodame to perform with Chiaki are thwarted unintentionally by Ruis growing reputation. Eventually, Ruis decides to study music in Paris but faces opposition from her mother who wants her to perform more publicly. Despite being skilled, she lacks the style and depth of Nodames performances and strives to find that same element in order to improve her own musical abilities.
