Murata Tetsuko is a swordsmith from Edo and the daughter of famous swordsman Murata Jintetsu, with an older brother, Murata Tetsuya, both deceased. Despite being shy and reserved, she has assisted Sakata Gintoki and his companions on multiple occasions. Initially, she did not greet Gintoki properly when they first met during the Benizakura arc. However, her kind nature was evident in Episode 61 when she saved him from Nizou. Tetsuko speaks softly, unlike her brother who had hearing issues and often shouted while trying to communicate normally. She made another appearance during the Itou arc, where she displayed extensive knowledge of swords and explained the history of the cursed sword that was afflicting Hijikata in Episode 102. Additionally, Tetsuko played a role in defending Kabuki District during the war in manga chapter 303.
