As a child, Alex would play with numerous Shroomish who shared his grandfather's mansion. However, over time, the surrounding forest was cleared for construction purposes, causing all of the Shroomish to leave the mansion. The city planned on tearing down the mansion where Alex's grandfather lived. Recently, strange occurrences have been reported by workers who claimed to feel sick after being near the mansion. Despite his skepticism, Alex decided to investigate these reports and found Ash and Max standing in the garden of the mansion. They informed him that a Shroomish had jumped through the window. Although he was initially unconvinced, Alex decided to check it out. Inside the mansion, they discovered a Shroomish being cared for by Max. To their surprise, not only was this Shroomish living in the mansion but many more as well. It turned out that the workers' sickness was caused by the Stun Spore emitted by the Shroomish. As a result of these findings, Alex put an end to the demolition of the mansion and decided to live there with the Shroomish, just like he did when he was young.
