In the past, there was an elf girl named Mellyroon who lived on Mipross Island. She was killed by a mazoku named Joyrock when he murdered all of the elves on the island. However, Lina Inverse traveled through time and defeated Joyrock, saving the lives of the elves including Mellyroon. As a child, Rowdy Gabriev had feelings for her, but Hajime Kanzaka stated that Gourry is not related to Mellyroon because she ages differently than humans.
