Miss maria is an inactive meister otome who serves as part of garderobe's upper administration. originating from old lutecia, she possesses the jasper of eternity (久遠の碧玉 kuon no hekigyoku) as her gem. despite being strict and often unsmiling, miss maria is respected by students, including nao and even feared by some. her experiences during the dragon king war 50 years ago have made her acutely aware of the tragic consequences of being an otome. as a member of garderobe staff, she does not require explicit certification to unlock her otome powers, which depend on the status of the fumi system. miss maria's element is a rapier and she briefly appears in episode 26 and mai-otome zwei. surprisingly, she becomes significantly younger while wearing her robe and is incredibly fast. she chides natsuki for lacking elegance during combat.
