Captain Kawabata

The boat captain Kawabata is responsible for transporting the Ushiromiya family between their home island and Rokkenjima. Following the murder case on Rokkenjima, he feels partly at fault for not being able to pick up the family earlier due to a typhoon that hindered his efforts. In 1998, Kawabata agrees to bring Ange to Rokkenjima in an attempt to find closure.
