King Carlo Alberto of Sardinia  

The King of Sardinia, Carlo Alberto, is the father of the current Italian monarch and won against Austria in the Battle of Custoza. During this battle, his life was saved by Viscount Vittorio Martini, who was a young army officer at that time. In recognition of Vittorios bravery, Carlo Alberto presented him with a medal bearing a "mark of benediction" from himself.
