Qifrey has a close companion named Olruggio, who is also known as the "Watchful Eyes" in his workshop. Olruggio creates magical objects and excels at crafting items that harness fire magic. He was the one who developed the glowstone path.
As a child, Olruggio was recognized as a prodigy witch from the northern town of [Ghodrey, renowned enough that people from outside the town would travel there to meet him. Before becoming an apprentice, Olruggio received an award for a magic exhibitions youth category, and had already begun partaking in field work tasks. During a field work trip to the village Noz which Olruggio had partaken in, a blizzard left the village isolated during an attack of wild beasts.
Olruggio managed to save two people, but was greatly saddened by his inability to help anyone else.
