Faust, from the story of Faustus, was a descendant who made a pact with the devil. In Shaman King, Faust the eighth was a lonely boy who had only one friend named Eliza. However, she suffered from an illness that no cure could find, so he devoted his life to finding it and eventually succeeded. He became a doctor, saved her life, married her, and they lived together in their clinic in Germany until a burglar broke in one night and shot Eliza dead. Devastated by the loss of his love, Faust turned to black arts such as necromancy to become the Shaman King and bring Eliza back to life. His spirit is that of Eliza herself, and her skeleton serves as his medium, always tied to his arm in a chain.
