Bandai Namco Entertainment is a Japanese multinational corporation that specializes in creating and publishing video games. It was founded in 2006 as Namco Bandai Games Inc., after merging Namco and Bandai in 2005. In 2009, it absorbed Bandai Networks and in 2012 it spun off its development operations into a new company called Bandai Namco Studios. In 2014, it was renamed Bandai Namco Games and then again in 2015 to Bandai Namco Entertainment. It has several popular video game franchises like Pac-Man, Tekken, Soulcalibur, Tales, Ace Combat, Taiko no Tatsujin, The Idolmaster, and Dark Souls. Pac-Man serves as its official mascot. It also owns licenses for several Japanese media franchises such as Shonen Jump, Gundam, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Sword Art Online, and Ultra Series. It is part of the Content Strategic Business Unit of the Bandai Namco Group and serves as the main branch of Bandai Namco Holdings for creating and publishing video games.
