Manga's 26th, 27th volumes slated for April 4
On Tuesday, it was announced that the final volume of Undead Unluck manga by Yoshifumi Tozuka will have five additional chapters in its release in Japan on Friday. These chapters are titled "unsung hero" and will be included in the 27th volume of the manga.
In February, the manga hinted at the inclusion of new chapters in the last volume, which had not been seen before.
In January 2019, Tozuka released his manga as a one-shot in
Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. He then continued with a serialized version of the manga in the magazine starting January 2020.
Viz Media began publishing the digital version of the manga in January 2020 and followed with print releases in May 2021. Additionally,
Shueisha's MANGA Plus service is also releasing the digital version of the manga. On January 27th, the serialized version of the manga ended its run in the magazine.
Viz Media describes the first volume:
All Fuuko wants is a passionate romance like the one in her favorite shojo manga. Unfortunately, her Unluck ability makes that impossible. But just as Fuuko hits rock bottom, Andy sweeps her off her feet—literally! Now she's become Andy's unwilling test subject as he works to find a way to trigger a stroke of Unluck big enough to kill him for good. However, when the pair discovers a secret organization is hunting them, it puts Andy's burial plans on hold.
According to the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2021 rankings for male readers, this manga came in fourteenth place. Additionally, it received recognition as the winner of the sixth "Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taishō" awards in August of 2020.
An animated adaptation of the comic book series began airing on TV in October 2023. It was available for streaming on
Hulu. The show concluded with its final episode number 24 in March 2024.
In winter 2025, a unique anime special with an original story written by Tozuka and featuring a new UMA creature designed by him will be released.
